It's always sad to see another Riblet removed, but all great things must come to an end. Minnie's Lift at Vail was removed over the summer, which leaves only one Riblet left at Vail. She was always a good chairlift to ride just to get away from the giant arsenal of detachable quads. If anyone has good memories or stories about this lift, post them here.

Lifts 1 & 9 (when it was at its original length) were always the best ways to access the mountain on crowded days in the late 80's/early 90's. It is unfortunate they are no longer available. I prefer old slow double chairs over a 40 min line for a HSQ which has to stop and slow constantly for people who cannot pay attention any day. I appreciate areas such as Mary Jane who still use their older double chairs on days when it is crowded. There is a lot more skiing to be had. Any plans for additional lifts to replace 1 &/or 9?

I hadn't heard 9 was gone- that leaves what, two fixed-grip lifts at Vail? Three, I guess- 5, 12, and 20.

Actually 4 fixed grips, although one is owned by a hotel to transport its guests to the slopes.

You are missing the former Sourdough lift that was relocated to Adventure Ridge.

You're missing 17 - Sun Up lift. There's 5 still remaining. Compare that to 16 detachable quads and a gondola.

And after a freezing cold slow ride on 5 yesterday, it's time that a detach replaces it! (not really. But it was cold enough to make me think that)

Well it would be twice as fast but twice as miserable. If you've ridden on #37 on a windy day you know what I'm talking about.
