I think Powder Ridge in MN also ops one

I will also post my next question on the technical forum but since this thread is going....

I am looking at a Larchmont J-bar currently set for 850X100 with a 15 hp and 10 towers. I am trying to determine if I set it up on my hill (for personal play, not commercial) if it would handle more vertical. For example if I went with a bigger motor would it work? I have been trying to determine if when Larchmont built these J-bars (or as the case might be with other lifts) if much of the drive terminal and tranmission were desiged to work with a range of vertical rise (within reason) and then fitted with different size motors depending on the vertical rise. In other words if I try to put this on something with a 200 vertical rise and beefed up the motor would it work. Or better yet I have a great location that would offer me more terrain and it has a 380 vertical rise and 800 foot length of run for the surface lift path.

Somewhere out there is the answer. Maybe an engineer would know but I am thinking that if I could find some technical specs or general rule of thumb with respect to the ratio of the vertical rise and length of run that would be a good start. I also think there must be someone out that with experience with this brand or similar ancient models that might know. All help is appreciated.

Thanks again.

It looks like you might be looking at a "one and only" lift. Have you researched spare parts?

i know the old Tenderfoot ski area (defunct) in Colorado had a Larchmont J-bar too. We found some remains on a trip back in 2003.

Thanks, Brad.
I guess since the survey only goes back to '55, there were other Larchmonts before that.
