Bitterroot Resort Gets Initial OK from Forest Service

The proposed Bitterroot Resort passed its first hurdle with the Bitterroot National Forest on Monday. The next step is the enviromental impact study.

Well they picked a humdinger of a time to try and build a resort.

Actually, if they have the money, it may be a good time to start. Certain costs may be down with contracting company's looking for work.

That part is true but if they need financing of any kind it will be hard to come by these days.

Maybe by the time they get around to building the place things will have picked up. I hope they learned their lesson from watching what happened to Revelstoke and the Yellowstone Club when you try to build a resort solely on real estate

It will be many years before the hurdles facing this project are overcome and construction begins, if ever. The EIS alone will take a year or two, and then you've got the inevitable lawsuits by various environmental groups. I'll be shocked if anything is finalized within the next five years, and the financial markets will most certainly be back closer to nromal than they are now at that point.
