Gore Gets Key Support for Expansion
SAM Magazine--North Creek, N.Y., March 12, 2004--The state comptroller has endorsed a proposal to link Gore Mountain and the North Creek Ski Bowl, create 2,500 new lodging beds and extend passenger train service from Saratoga Springs to North Creek, providing New Yorkers direct train service to the resort.

Comptroller Alan Hevesi predicted the developments could more than double visits to Gore, to 360,000 annually, and generate $45 million in tourism (current ski and ride customers spend about $21.7 million a year).

Wow, they get a ski train! I am good terms with their mtn manager, who showed me the blue prints for their expansion. Its basically a huge terrain park/superpipe area with lodging and restaurants on one side. The big deal here is this new expansion takes them into private land, so now part of their mountain can be built up on. condos, hotels, restaurants, whatever. They are out of the national forest land. some guy owns it, and im sure he made a killing off of this.

Its all scheduled for summer 2005, and the money is in place.

If i recall correctly, they were getting a HSQ ~ 200 chairs and a gondola connecting this new area to the main base area. Horizontal gondola action there.

I hope this turns gore into a huge resort, comparable to mt snow, stratton down the road.

How big is Gore now? I would imagine there is a need for expansin, with all the skiers who live downstate coming up every weekend.
