In that last one the terminal looks like it was extended a few feet.

Ya, that does look like an addition. Wonder why. Doesn't look like there's anything in there that sticks out from the regular box

It appears that addition is part of the design. If you look through the windows you'll see the APU radiator right up next to the wall. It's possible the APU was upgraded later to a bigger size but that really wouldn't require an addition.
I also like how the staircase to the motor room uses the shack as a landing... Yan liked to use lift shacks in a multipurpose fashion, I guess.

I remember the old Clipper triple at DV used the shack as a landing like that too. It was a Yan triple with the round-ended box. 1983-1999. Now Silver Lake Express, 99 CTEC HSQ

"In that last one the terminal looks like it was extended a few feet."

The extension was added to provide room for a tertiary drive (actually the original Ford 460). When the full-rated, speed-regulated Diesel replaced the original evac-only engine, the old gas V-8 was flipped around backwards and run in reverse gear for evac purposes. This allows us to run the Diesel continuously while loading public - and it's a lot less trouble than a cat-powered hydraulic motor. We did this to two lifts.

"I also like how the staircase to the motor room uses the shack as a landing... Yan liked to use lift shacks in a multipurpose fashion, I guess."

That wasn't Yan's idea. The LM department added the stairways in 1994. Op shack seemed like a handy landing.

Kudos to your department, then. Seems to work well, definitely better than the ladders that were welded onto the deck originally. We've had two that have cracked right at the deck.
