I happened to both drive and fly by this ski area that is south of Missoula, Montana a couple weeks ago and I can't seem to find anything about it. The first picture is a Google Earth screenshot of it, the second is from the airplane, and the third is a map of Missoula showing Montana Snowbowl and Marshall Mountain in relation to it. It didn't look like any lifts were still standing there. Anyone know anything about it?

That's Bitterroot Ski Resort. As you probably know, the owner is waiting for the forest service to allow the resort to expand on to its property.

I had no idea that he had already cut runs for it.

I drove through there last spring you can see the cut runs from I-90 and the west end of town. I don't remember seeing them two years ago when I was last in the area

The owner cut the runs on the land he owns (he also owns the ranch on the valley floor), but the snow is lousy down there, so the plan can't get off the ground unless he gets approval to go further west up on Carlton Ridge, which takes him up another 2000' or so in elevation, very close to Mt. Lolo. From what I've read, it's something of a pipe dream, given its proximity to sensitive environmental areas. I'm sure the morass at Tamarack won't make it any easier.
