It isn't actually charged with sunlight. They buy wind and solar credits to "offset" the electricity used, the theory being that they are paying for solar and wind energy for the lift, but it doesn't seem to actually work that way in practice, because it is all pumped into the same grid and it is often just making a higher percentage of the rest of the electricity come from fossil fuels.

In Colorado the vast majority of the power generated is from Coal fired plants and all of the lines that stretch into the mountains are Coal fired so no resort in Colorado actually runs off wind or solar but as Zeedotcom stated offset credits are purchased, although the solar and wind power generated is used elsewhere.

Theres a place for all of God's creatures, right next to the mashed potatoes.

"You could say that a mountain is alot like a woman, once you think you know every inch of her and you're about to dip your skis into some soft, deep powder...Bam, you've got two broken legs, cracked ribs and you pay your $20 just to let her punch your lift ticket all over again"
