Hey Splicer,
Do you have the next installment of "What is this" figured out yet?

I think splicer is getting a little wiser in his old age, why mess around when you can work off of a sundeck.

This is the splicing platform being assembled on the north track ropes. We'll be doing the haul rope splice monday and tuesday next week with Norm Duke.
On the old tram, we had two separate haul ropes, which were socketed and pinned to the tram carriages. The new tram has a continuous rope, much like a regular lift, and because the travel in the counter weight is limited, the splice cannot be done on the ground and must be done in the air.
We've recruited a group of lift ops along with our crew (Chris O., Josh D. and me) and the Garaventa guys to dangle and twist with Norm next week

The track ropes are fixed, no counterweight. The haul rope counterweight is located at the top of the mountain. We'll be working on the tucks tomorrow, hopefully will be finished tomorrow afternoon. The plan is to start spinning and do magnetic rope inspection on wednesday. I'll post some shots in the next couple days.

Just out of curiosity, who did your splice?
