Northstar Extends Ski Lifts and Trails to Martis Camp

Truckee, CA - This winter, Northstar-at-Tahoe Resort will extend its ski lifts and trails to connect with Martis Camp, a private luxury community in North Lake Tahoe.

The new Martis Camp Express, formerly Lookout Express, will be a high-speed quad chairlift located inside Martis Camp, at the base of Northstar Resort's Lookout Mountain. The lift line will be increased from 2,822 lineal feet to 5,128 lineal feet, with an increase in vertical drop from 1,247 feet to 1,722 feet, and will allow skiers and riders to reach the mountain top in a mere six minutes. This new amenity will allow Martis Camp Club members direct access from their homes to Northstar-at-Tahoe Resort. Martis Camp Club members will also have access to the private Martis Camp Warming Hut located near the base of the lift.


Three existing advanced ski trails on Lookout Mountain are also being extended into Martis Camp: Prosser, Stampede and Martis. To the east of these trails, a new intermediate trail named Washoe has been added, and will also terminate at the base of the Martis Camp Express lift.

"We are very excited about the trail and lift extensions into Martis Camp, because of the highly unique access it will afford their Club members, as well as the enhanced experience it will provide for everyone who skis or rides at Northstar Resort," said Chris Ryman, President of Booth Creek Resorts, operator of Northstar-at-Tahoe.

"This direct connection to Northstar-at-Tahoe Resort truly sets Martis Camp apart, as it will be one of the rare private communities in North America where Club members can be shuttled from their homes to a private Warming Hut with base facilities, and then take an express lift directly to the top of the ski area -- all in the span of a few minutes -- not to mention the convenient access to the Village at Northstar, which offers world class shopping, dining and lifestyle experiences," commented Martis Camp General Manager Mark Johnson.


I wonder if the Garaventa CTEC Stealth drive terminal will be re-used with such a long expansion?

The drive terminal can still be used, although the lift will require a new electric motor and gearbox unless the lift was designed to handle this modification when it was installed.
