Ha nice try! I don't know of any active member on this forum who lives in Switzerland and even if so what's the chance that he/she has pictures of that lift.

i wonder why no one wants to try and save the vr 101s?save them as a nostalgic piece of aerial ropeway history.the place where they were invented, they are now frowned upon it seems.

vonrollskyway1: I agree with you totally and wish they would preserve these lifts, but they seem to be more interested in modernizing their resorts there rather than preserving which is not all that surprising in my opinion. After all, we do the same here right? We replace the old FG lifts with new lifts that are easier to maintain and more cost effective. I guess the general public does not have much interest in preserving old lifts, they would rather have a new more comfortable lift. There are still quite a few old lifts over in Europe but they are certainly disappearing fast as they are here.

There is a association that want to save the VR101 chairlift at the Weissenstein: www.prosesseli.ch

But I don't think that they have really a chance.

Pictures of the last existing VR101 chairlifts you can find here:

This chairlift was build by Von Roll!

In Switzerland there were three diffrent manufacturers which had build Side-facing chairs:

- Von Roll
- Mueller (detachable doubles and fixed singles)
- Carlevaro-Savio (only one installation in Locarno)

Schätti (a small swiss manufacturer) rebuilt the chairlift at Locarno with technology of Doppelmayr:
