I took some pictures of the ski area at Otsego Club today! This area is particularly interesting because they have 4 operating miner denver chairlifts. three doubles and a triple. They are relatively original except they all use CTEC carriers.

I wonder why they replaced the chairs. Or maybe the Miner Denver chairs were never built with quality.

Why couldn't they of come up with "Global Cooling"?

I think age and lack or part support had more to do with it, grips for M-D are most likely impossible to find and any chair after 30+ years can have issues.

I've skied a lot of places in MI but never been to this one. The ski area looks decent, but I was blown away by their pricing. I think you have to be or know a memeber to ski there. If you know a member it looks like it's $60 for a one day lift ticket. Whoa, that's steep! Season pass is $1250. I can't imagine people paying this much. Michigan lift tickets range from 30 to 58 depending on ski area and if it's a holiday. Boyne is probably the best and most expensive (2nd most I should say) area in MI but they're cheaper at 300-829 for a season pass and 35-58 per day. Is there something special in Gaylord that has people paying the big bucks?

Check out this page. It seems that almost all miner denver have had their carriers replaced for some reason. I think part of the reason Otsego replaced theirs with CTEC carriers is because Treetops, which is only five minutes away, had at least two CTEC triples at the time and Otsego wanted their lifts to be just as comfortable.

Good to see that there are a few still around. :kewlpics: I did not know that Miner-Denver made triples. Does anyone have a picture of the original carrier? (Probably a slim chance, but maybe.) If so please post!

Two of the doubles installed at Otsego are listed in the lift installation surveys as being built by Telecar. Is that the same company as Miner-Denver?

Yes, they are a private area, so out of reach for most, but they did open for to the public last year on select nights.

Look at the link JJ provided. The lift at "Ty-roll'your'owns" still is standing and has original chairs.

I would think that Telecar was different company. In this pic you can see the old lift line of one of them. This one was replaced by the quad. If you look closely at it you can see one of the old towers.
