Is cabin parking no longer something that ski resorts do? Does anyone know how much cabin parking the Elk Camp Gondola at Snowmass has? The top station has a maintenance building and some parking, but it doesn't appear to be much. I've also noticed that they just keep all of the cars on the line at all times. Is that typical for newer installations.

It all depends on the installation. For instance, Breckenridge keeps their gondola cars on the line at night, because there is no reason to take them off. There is no chance of ice build up, or anything like that. Vail does park their gondola cars at night to charge their batteries to operate the lights in and outside of the cars. It all depends on the installation, because in some cases, the weather does not allow the cabins to stay on all night, but in other cases there is no reason to take the cars off at night.
