Apparently Mountain High now operating the lost Ski Sunrise resort in California.

"North Resort: Mountain High offers a new third resort with 70 acres of tubing and beginner terrain for families and introductory skiers. Formerly Ski Sunrise, Mountain High North is located directly across from the West Resort and operates on weekends and holidays, peak season. "

I've done a little more digging, and I figured out that the pink area on the above map has a Thiokol triple chair on it, but it does not operate. So it is another partially lost ski area.

Are there any pictures of the triple or the area floating around?

No, the area in the pink used to be served by a single detachable poma surface lift not a triple chair. Parts of the lift are still in place, but it is not in an operating state. The lift ran from the base of that "pink" area to the summit following Wagg's Woe. A second poma surface lift served the upper portion of the mountain like the Ribblet Quad does, but ran a line along "Howard's Run".

Mountain High was talking about installing a chairlift to service that area, but since Mountain High North has only operated one of the past three seasons I doubt it will be happening anytime soon.

There is also a third surface lift - detachable poma - in the beginner portion of the mountain Madison Ave. and Marmot.

Cool, there are very few of those Riblet center pole quads with the double grips. I think that is the only one in the West too.

I went to Mountain High at the beginning of March this year. The North Resort has the centerpole quad chair and two magic carpets for snowtubing. The towers for all three old poma lifts are still standing but the terminals have been removed. The area also had towers from the old ropetow still standing between the two tubing areas. There was a handletow in the Madison Ave. area but it did not have a cable on it.

As far as skiing goes, the North resort is all beginner and intermediate trails. At the top of the lift there is a sign with the trail names on it and arrows in various directions but there are not really any specific trails cut through the trees, except for the old liftlines and the beginner run.

The Sunrise quad is a Riblet Quad, 1580 ft. long, 300 ft. vertical. It seemed like it was running at about 400 fpm, but that is just an estimate. The two moving carpets for tubing looked about 300-400 ft long, but that is an estimate as well.

Although it's not, it sounds like an avrage ski area in Iowa.

So does anyone know where the Thiokol Triple under Ski Sunrise on the 1977 installation survey is actually located?

The Thiokol triple was removed after the National Park district decided to stop all commercial activities in Yosemite. However, Badger Pass was able to stay because of its historic value.
