Well, you've seen plenty of guys like me here before. I'd like to build a ropetow like the one we had back in Chester, VT in the old days. I guess I would just need plans or pics of a reduction drive. I think I could get the rest of it together. poles, pulleys, rope, and plenty of spare leather gloves. I've looked around some but haven't really come across the previous responses to this request that I am sure are here. Thanks! Justin.

Surf around this site and search under "backyard" for good information -- I did a pretty simple drive (current reduction is 43.2:1 using a 13HP Honda motor, assuming 3600 RPMs) the speed is 5MPH -- We changed the speed as we upgraded other parts of the lift.... Give me an idea of what you want to do... also search under polarpeak for more information on rope tows.... there are alot of different ways you can go with this.....

For $10 you can get a copy of the Columbian Ski Tow Manual, call Arthur Lakes Library, IDS, Colorado School of Mines, 303-273-3899 FEIN: 84-6000551. Its a nice start....

I was told that a 7.5 hp electric motor could do the trick for the tow I need. I have about a 350' run at about a 20` slope. Any Ideas/ Steve

That will be just fine -- I was running an old Kohler 10HP single piston and it had plenty of power to run 2100 feet of 3/8 wire (600lbs) plus 3 skiers--

I have seen these "automobiles" or horseless carriages driving around does anybody have plans for one with four wheels, max speed of 120 mpg, capacity for 6 adults ?

If you want a ropetow contact and hire an actual manufacture otherwise you'll just have an accident waiting to happen. It will cost more upfront but worth it when all who use it are safe !!
