Troy Caldwell has frabricated the lift from Scratch. I helped fly towers roughly 4 years ago in November. He has a haul rope ( From Mtn Rose), Towers, part of a bottom terminal building and not much Else. No Sheave assemblies, No chairs, No prime mover, no APU, gearbox ect. It is a LONG ways from being done.

Rumor, Squaw to Alpine... Don't hold your breathe. Unless JMA buys Squaw and makes it a Gondola. The bottom terminal is over on Troy's property, quite a ways from being anywhere near a probable " Unload area" here at Alpine. It is also ALL south facing, that snow burns out so fast, it would make for a short skiable season on those runs. Also, too Steep to groom, No access to the top via Snowcat. He had to HIKE all the handrails up by hand. ALL the tower footings were Dug by hand.

If you look at the chairline and where it points at in Alpine you'd have to add several pretty high towers across the Alpine parking lot towards the bottom of Hotwheels chair from there it " could" end at the top of Hotwheels Chair. This wont happen unless they put all the power lines currently up the alpine meadows road underground. I don't see that ever happening.

Other trivial bits of info missed or misrep'd by people. The Lift is Called " White Wolf"

Squaw has welched out on paying Troy rent for the Top of Kt for years.. Hence a huge legal battle, they were gonna give him old headwall when they put the newer lift in but in Standard " Squawlywood " fashion, they cut the towers and dropped it to the ground nearly destroying anything usable. read, more legal battles. Even if all goes perfect and that is to say 100% free and clear all the pieces fall into place. I'd say 5 years minimum UNLESS JMA comes in a drops HUGE coin, buys Squaw and pays off all the Bear Creek Home Owners Association to make it happen. BCHOA sued Troy and Lost, their complaint. An Eye sore.. Um, hello the resort was here for your assoc. was formed, deal with it. You can see Alpines towers from your posh little house down in your Closed area private road community, whats the big deal with one more set of towers?

Troy has huge plans, If your gonna dream DREAM BIG ! Troy is a man that does this.

Sounds like you have a hero.

Unfortunately the Caldwell lift did not get built in a timely fashion.
Tahoe politics and promised money lost.
Would have made more sense to save the money, fight the battles, make a plan, (business and development), instead of jabbing some eyesore tubing in the ground. The lift would have been accepted by the communities and public if it was operational and provided a purpose.

The lift could have an angle station and skoot up to the main lodge at Alpine.

By the way.....hand dug tower holes are not uncommon.
