Ever become frustrated by a tool that has become magnetized - one that's not supposed to be? This happens a lot in my shop where there are many neodymium magnets.

You can put out bucks for an official demagnetizer... or make your own. All you need is the coil and 1/2 of the armature from an AC contactor.

The photo shows mine (attached to my drill press - the silvery thing in the background is a pressure switch... not related to the demagnetizer).

The strong pulsating field created by the energized coil will instantly demagnetize your screwdriver (or whatever) when you wipe it across the laminated armature face.
