Thats funny, on the way home from the airport tonight I must have passed 50+ vehicles and 10 buses all full of skiers while driving up the Maple Valley highway. Crystal must have been slammed!

I went to Crystal today it started out busy but as the day went on, the crowds spread out as chair 6 and Northway opened. Since upper mt. was closed yesterday, the powder was amazing. chair 6 broked down right when it opened and I smelled electrical wire burning or something, but they fixed it.
This was the first time I have been on Northway, I loved it with all the powder. I'm glad they put in that lift.

It has gotten to be a bit much, Mt. Baker, Alpental, White Pass and Stevens Pass are all closed tomorrow due to avalanches and road closures.

Which would you prefer. No snow at all or a crap load of snow?

Take your pick!

Isn't that the second time this season this has happened when Crystal is the only mountain open? I wouldn't even dare go up to Crystal this weekend. Hopefully this Friday is going to be very good, I hear the snow train is just going to keep going.

glad to see the west is getting snow becuase its been clear and cold in most of alaska for three weeks, -5 to -15 on the coast and -10 to -20 inland. We still have close to 400" so far. Grew up skiing the cascades and it use to snow like that in the 70,s. I'm jealous "ENJOY THE FRESHIES"

The east even got some snow this week! 6" at Okemo on Thursday. Trees were sick!
(OK I admit it here in the east we are feeling a bit inadiquate with how much snow the west is getting.)

Crystal is the only ski area open in the west. There are still areas in the east part of the state should still be open. Such as Bluewood, Loup Loup and others.

I figure with all this snow A-Basin should probably be open well into July...

Will people still want to ski in July? Seems the market would be very small.

For the vast majority of people, skiing is not popular past the beginning of April.

I know people "ski" all year, but not enough for every ski area to be open for.

A-Basin will have the July skiing market to themselves, and if they couldn't financially justify being open that long, they wouldn't do it. Sign me up for skiing in July. Who needs the beach?

Heavenly just extended their season into May. That's a good sign for the Tahoe area after the dry year and fires last year.
