The only bad part about living right on a ski area would be in the middle of night you would get awakened by groomers.

The cats to me are a soothing white noise but the best part is waking up in the morning to the sound of avy bombs, you usualy know that it will be a powder day when they are going off.

I don't think groomers would be as bad as air/water snow making guns right outside your place at the beginning of the season. When I do my two night creatures at the top of the gondola here, the groomers don't wake me up because they pass right by. Even when they take a break up here and they're parked right outside with the engine idling, it doesn't wake me up. Maybe I'm just a heavy sleeper.

I would agreee with that for sure, even being a ways away from a Rat 5 or other large a/w they are still really loud.

To get to Crystal, it takes around 2 hours on a good day, 2 and a half hours if the snow just dumps like mad. Stevens takes around 2 1/2-3hours hours (30-45 minutes bus to ferry + 30 minute ferry trip + 1 1/2-2 hour bus trip off of the ferry) Better Stevens than Snoqualmie almost any day of the week.

At home: 25-30 mins to Buck Hill. 15 mins to Hyland. 1 hour to Welch Village.

At house in Breckenridge: less than 1 min. I have to cross the street. And thats Lower Lehman!

That would be music to my ears, if they stop making noise I'd have to get out of bed and go fix them.

I'm jealous of the less than one minute! It's 20 mins to Killington 12 mins to Pico and 31 mins to Okemo for me.

Amazing, many of you are so close to snow. I would love to live next to a lift. I'm here in the bay area california, and it takes me about 3 hours driving to get to Tahoe. I am so jealous of everyone here.

Don't be jealous, because when you live one min. away you get called alot to do things.
What now?

That's true. I used to have a 5 minute walk. It was convenient, but a lot of times it was like I never left work. I moved 13 miles away and it makes a big difference.

I used to live across the street from chair 1 at Baker, but no late-night calls because we were the only ones up there after 6 PM. I'm currently 25 minutes away from the shop if the road's good, 40 if it's not. Ski Cooper is only about 10 minutes away from town if we decide to ski there instead.

From my house in Sunapee, NH it's about 10 minutes to Mt. Sunapee my home stomping ground. From there it's about 20 minutes to Whaleback, 30 to Pats Peak and an hour will get you Dartmouth Skiway, Ragged, Okemo, Ascutney, and Suicide Six. From my room at school in Lyndonville, VT 5 minutes to Lyndon Outing Club, 10 minutes to Burke Mountain and an hour will get you to Bretton Woods, Cannon Mountain (45 mins or so), Loon Mountain, Kanc Recreation, and Jay Peak. Attitash is about a hour and 15 through Crawford Notch.

25 minutes drive to Alta/Snowbird, 45 minutes drive to Solitude/Brighton and one hour drive to Canyons, Park City and Deer Valley.

Except at Brighton, my parents' own cabin stands right next the ski slope area like from cabin door to ski slope only 30 seconds walk or put ski equipment and ski down from the door. The cabin faces to Majestic Lift. I love it.
