Can this topic get locked / cleaned up / Facts stated only? This is making the Ski Area look bad!!!

The only thing that I have stated as fact is that the sign in front of the lift says:

NO SINGLES for Safety Reasons

Third-hand news- A year or two ago there was a similar problem on this same tower. If I recall correctly, the angle of the rope as it passes this tower is the steepest on the lift. I don't remember what the guidage looked like, exactly, but I could see a single sitting on the outside causing the chair to hang too close and possibly get caught up in the guidage. Supposedly the 'no singles' rule was enacted to eliminate the possiblity of one person loading on the outside. I was foreman of that lift for a couple of years in the mid-90s and I recall policy being to stop the lift if a single loaded on the outside and make them move to the inside seat. I guess they quit doing that?

We're not out to make them look bad. The place is great and I know none of us would deliberatey do that. There is an issue with that lift and it's not something they're trying to hide; as others have said I'm sure they're working hard to solve the problem.

That makes sense. The rule has always been singles load on the inside, but it is not always enforced.

New lifts.. lots of money... How come it wasn't corrected?

Good question. Since the problem seems to be ralated to one tower only, perhaps something changed on that tower over the last few years?

I would think they would spend a few dollars to correct the problem. Spending a few dollars could correct an accident down the road and a potential lawsuit.

I'm not skiing this weekend but I heard that the chair has been fixed and the no single rule is gone!
