Is it still called Sterling ? Or is the sticker coming off later ? The bottom term looks a little different !!! No more counterweight inspections !!

It looks good. Where did the line gear come from ? Those aren't the sheaves that Sterling had at Deer Valley.

I believe the sheave tranes came from Mammoth we junked all the aluminum tranes but kept the wheels to sell later if possible.

That star trek aluminum was no good. I've heard that in Colorado it's illegal to re-install the aluminum tranes

Very cool, so awesome seeing Eden blanketed in snow. My old man is buried in the Eden cemetery. Love Ogden Valley. Didn't Wolf get another lift from Deer Valley as well?

Nice to see it in a new home. Glad to see it's still got those tower heads, which I've never seen anywhere else. I'm surprised they opened it up without painting over the stickers, but I guess they'll get around to it later.

How many Yan lifts are left with the aluminum sheave trains?

I don't know if it's illegal, but I haven't heard any good things about them from those who've worked with them. All of ours were replaced with Doppelmayr equipment in the late 90s.
Loveland still operates one lift with the Star Trek sheave trains, it's also the only lift I've seen with that wierd Type 6 grip. Steamboat had (might still have) three or four towers on the old Southface triple that were of that vintage.

If I remember correctly, the only Yan at Steamboat with the alluminum sheaves was the former Preview lift. It got replaced by parts of Southface which got replaced by Christie Peak Express. There are a few other Yan Type 6s out there. The FGQ @ Lake Louise has a Type 6, and the Silver Queen @ Silver Star did, but it got replaced. I'm trying to think here...... I'm pretty sure there's one in Vermont.

Lift 7 and 18 at Mount Snow in Vermont still have the aluminum sheave trains. They run the Yan 3 grips there.

The top lift at Sundance, Arrowhead I think it is called, has aluminum sheaves still as well.

...as well as Mayflower at Deer Valley; although I'm not sure whether they have been replaced this year. I'll be there in a few weeks, so I will check.

The Galena triple at Mt. Rose-Ski Tahoe in Nevada still uses the aluminum sheaves as well. When the Northwest Passage triple was moved from Rose to Sky Tavern in 2002, the aluminum sheaves were replaced. Both triples were installed at Rose in 1985.

Did the 'Gremlins' transfer with the old Sterling to it's new home?
