When I was around six years old I skied at Breckenridge for my first time. I remember very few things except riding the T-Bar with my dad and riding on chair 2 under Colorado SuperChair. However, I vaugely remember riding Beaver Run SuperChair and noticing 219 carriers, which was a huge number for any lift let alone a detachable quad!! The next year, my dad started working for Copper as a ski instructor, so I mainly got to ski there and some places with Real Deal vouchers. Unfortunately, Vail Resorts did not participate in the Real Deal exchange, so I never got to ski at Breckenridge until two years ago when my dad quit instructing and we got Colorado Passes.

I noticed then that there were only 186 carriers on the lift, so I dismissed the thought that there were 219 carriers on the lift at one time. But I also thought that it was a right-hand drive at the time so I assumed that it was just a little kid's imagination playing tricks on himself. Until today.... There is a Competition Series carrier outside of the Maggie lodge as a bench numbered 215. So now I know that my mind wasn't playing tricks on me and that there really were 219 carriers on Beaver Run SuperChair at one time.

So now I wonder when did they remove 33 carriers and why? They could surely use the extra capacity on some busy days. And where did they all go? If anyone knows anything about this change, their input would be greatly appreciated. Lift Dino might know.

I am fairly certain that the number of carriers was reduced on BR but I can't remember the date. If memory serves me correctly the loading interval was previously very short and the loading carpet that was in place for a time was to aid people in loading at the shorter interval. I think that the extra carriers and the carpet were removed about the same time.

During that period of time when the load carpet was removed, the cadence chain system was removed and replaced with tires. Depending on the chair at the Maggie that you are refferring to, it probably was from the BR. There is another chair down by ski school at the Maggie as well. The chair down at the ski school is a Falcon style carrier, and is from the Falcon Super Chair, from when all of the chairs were replaced. As for the change in direction, that must have been the little kid mind! I believe that the carriers were removed to allow more loading time, by there being less carriers in the terminal. I wish I knew the dates of the tire upgrade, but alas, I do not. Maybe I will talk to someone when I come up there in a little over a week. I may be taking a tour of the terminals. I'll have pics if I do!

So Beaver Run had a loading carpet and a cadence chain? Wow there's a lot that I don't know about that lift.

You have ridden the American Eagle at Copper, right? Well, the two lifts have the same type of terminal, except the Eagle has a cadence chain, and more horse power. They were both built within a year of each other. (1989-1990)

But it was also built the same year as Zephyr Express at WP and if I'm correct never had a cadence chain.
