URGENT - WINTER WEATHER MESSAGE

248 PM PST WED DEC 5 2007

...HEAVY SNOWFALL EXPECTED FOR THE SIERRA AND EASTERN CALIFORNIA
THURSDAY THROUGH FRIDAY WITH AN INCREASED CHANCE OF SIGNIFICANT
SNOW FOR MUCH OF WESTERN NEVADA..

.STRONG LOW PRESSURE IN THE EASTERN PACIFIC WILL MOVE SOUTHEAST
ACROSS CALIFORNIA FROM LATE THURSDAY THROUGH FRIDAY. AS THE
SYSTEM PASSES OVER THE SIERRA THURSDAY NIGHT...SNOW LEVELS WILL FALL
AND PRECIPITATION WILL INTENSIFY. MOISTURE WRAPPING AROUND THIS
SYSTEM WILL KEEP THE THREAT OF SNOW OVER THE REGION THROUGH
FRIDAY.

...WINTER STORM WARNING IN EFFECT FROM 1 PM THURSDAY TO 4 PM PST
FRIDAY..

THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN RENO HAS ISSUED A WINTER STORM
WARNING...WHICH IS IN EFFECT FROM 1 PM THURSDAY TO 4 PM PST
FRIDAY. THE WINTER STORM WATCH IS NO LONGER IN EFFECT.

SNOW WILL DEVELOP THURSDAY MORNING AND BECOME HEAVY AT TIMES FROM
THURSDAY AFTERNOON THROUGH FRIDAY AFTERNOON. BY LATE FRIDAY
AFTERNOON...TOTAL SNOW ACCUMULATIONS OF 6 TO 12 INCHES WILL OCCUR
AT LAKE LEVEL WITH 1 TO 2 FEET ABOVE 7000 FEET. LOCALLY HIGHER
SNOW AMOUNTS MAY OCCUR WITHIN HEAVIER SNOW BANDS.

WIND GUSTS UP TO 60 MPH AT RIDGE LEVEL WILL PRODUCE AREAS OF
BLOWING SNOW AND WHITEOUT CONDITIONS OVER MOUNTAIN PASSES AND
EXPOSED LOCATIONS.

CONDITIONS CAN DETERIORATE RAPIDLY DURING WINTER STORMS...SLOW
DOWN AND ALLOW EXTRA TIME WHEN TRAVELING. REMEMBER TO CARRY TIRE
CHAINS...FOOD...WATER...BLANKETS AND A FLASHLIGHT IN YOUR CAR IN

yes!
this is what we need.
Sugar Bowl opened alot last year with the storm they got like this one. Hopefully its the same this year!

Still snowin up top, although it needs to pick up for 1 to 2 feet by Fri.

Ahhhh, it snowed then rained so much here that the projected opening was put off. Next weekend looks better though.

18-20" at the top of Heavenly, I'm afraid it will pack and settle to about half that. Get it while you can! :w00t:
