Anyone interested? I was thinking that with the growth of this site, and questions that pop up here and there, we could set up an IRC channel to meet in. This could help cut down the help requests in the forums, and if you happen to be a member with a question, you might get your answer faster if an admin/mod was in IRC. Does anyone else think this would be fun?

I believe our hosting company has a pre installed script that allows us to do this already.
I think there are both pros and cons to the chat. While it's a great way to get help, how many people would actually use it and whatever is learned while chatting is lost unless the chat log is saved. That's why I like the forum because people can find threads without having to constantly ask the same questions over again. I think the chat will work though once we build up a good fallowing, like 2000+ industry members.

I agree. Also, this thread did not spark much interest as you can see so we'll have to bring it up again after we have gained another 1000+ users.

What if I told you that there is a channel #skilifts on an IRC Server right now and all I have to do is click a button to activate its portal on the forum?
Only bad thing is that you would have to open two windows to chat and browse since they are independent of each other AND the forum doesn't tell you if anyone is in chat.
