KEYSTONE (AP) - A 15-year-old skier was taken to a Denver hospital Monday after he hit a tree at Arapahoe Basin Ski Area.

Resort officials say the Canadian teen hit the tree on the Lower Ramrod run about 8:25 a.m. while he was race training.

He was taken by ambulance to St. Anthony Central Hospital.

His name has not been released, and the extent of his injuries is unknown.

Well, at least it got in the news. Most incidents don't ever make it to the press. I have heard that many people hit trees throughout the season at big resorts frequently.

You got it. Many of them are never reported because the skier in question receives only minor scrapes and bruises. Trees are one of the hazards of skiing.

Oof! That's gotta hurt. :pinch:
My name doesn't mean I ski a lot. It means that I'm big, and I'm a skier.

in general, resort tend to shy away from the media, if at all possible, when some one is hurt. The last thing they want is to be known as a unsafe resort.
Most times it's the general public who will call the media to report an inceident at at resort. And with cell phones cameras, getting pitcures to the media is even easier.
Resort staff, should avoid all comments to the media, or people wanting to know what happepend. Leave it to the resort' management , and let them make an offical comment.

Hope the teen is alright, and wil be able to return to the snow.
