That happened in 1976-1977. I think the same happens will be here again this year. I wonder when will the fresh snow bring here???

I must apologize to the entire industry - everytime Red Mountain gets a new lift everyone has to suffer... The last time a new lift was built? 1976...

Yikes! :stretcher:

Buck Hill bailed on opening this weekend, and have changed to early this week. Hyland Opened yesterday, with 3 lifts, and 2 runs, and one terrain park. This weekend is i the 40's...so everything is slush. This week, however, we are dropping into the 20's for highs and into the single digits for the night! Next weekend will be my ski day! Welch Village will open on Thursday, after bailing on Friday. Wild Mountain is open and expanding their terrain. 3 lifts and about 10 runs, the best in the state! :w00t: Afton is up with 3 lifts and 2 runs. This week, we are expecting some snow later into it! Hopefully it'll stick around. We need it!

Cascade Mountain and Granite Peak in Wisconsin opened this weekend. Conditions were OK at Cascade considering that it was announced less than 24 hours before they opened because they weren't expecting to make it.

Terry, make sure there is more than one run for 3000 skiers when I'm out there in March, OK? Human slalom gates are only good for so long.

The Canyons opened yesterday with four lifts (including the gondola and Cabriolet), four runs, and, more importantly, ski patrol

It's supposed to dump snow up in the Cascades this week, hopefully the season will start anytime.

Does anyone know why Winter Park, CO has so little terrain open compared to other Colorado resorts with the same lousy early season snowfall? I remember sparse early season snowfall years in the past (although this year seems to be the worst I have seen since 1980) they have at least opened Eskimo and Zephyr for Thanksgiving weekend with Cranmar and March Hare or Phipps runs. Hopefully their snowmaking equipment was not reposessed by the IRS  Hopefully the snowfall will improve soon although next week does not look great either. The storm on Thurs/ Fri which dumped 2-3 inches on the Denver area completely missed the Colorado ski areas. Not good. I am also getting really tired of listening to these nieve weather announcers who seem to jump for joy about the unseasonably warm/ no snow conditions we are having. They will not feel as joyous next summer when we are out of water!

Winter Park had problems w/ the snowmaking system when one of the lines broke reducing snowmaking to 1/2 the capacity. To make it worse, they decided to open the trails sooner than to let the snow cure, so, rather than having a softer snow surface, we're dealing w/ a sheet of ice. I've heard that as of yesterday we are now at 100% capacity again, but it warmed up forcing them to turn the guns off. Hopefully the forecast holds and the storm cycles start coming in as predicted.

Sort of yes. They were open this last weekend and will be reopening on Wednesday.

Chairlift n. A transportation system found at most ski areas in which a series of chairs suspended from a cable rapidly conveys anywhere from one to eight skiers from the front of one line to the back of another.

That is good the snowmaking equipment is back online at Winter Park. Hopefully it will be cold enough so they can catch up. Parkway and Larry Sale runs are usually icy even during a good season. I overheard Gary DeFrange explaining to someone the reason Larry Sale run is always icy is due to a natural spring which runs underneath it. They need some snow real soon.
I skied and rode at Loveland on Sunday (11/25) and had some fairly decent manufactured-snow conditions with a decent amount of terrain open. Quite a few out of control and reckless skiers and riders though. People seem to be getting restless and ready to spread out more. Think snow!!

Crystal is saying they may open this weekend, and will make the call Friday. If they do open, it will be under "limited operations".
