It appears from Leitner-Poma's website that the new Elk Camp Meadows Lift has used towers and tower heads. (Maybe used chairs too?) Does anyone know if this is also from Fanny Hill or if it's from another lift? It does however appear to have new terminals. Here's the link to the pictures.

I'm so disappointed with this installation. When they went for the Base Village approval they said this would be a detachable lift. Now that the Base Village is approved the ASC backs out and puts in a fixed-grip quad. The type of visitor this Snowmass attracts expects a HSQ. If they truly wanted to deliver first-class learning experience up at Elk Camp then they would've built a HSQ. ASC is behind the times. Thunderbowl Triple at Aspen Highlands. What about upgrading the Gent's Ridge Quad to HSQ on Aspen Mountain and the Tiehack lift at Buttermilk. The reason people don't use that lift is because it is so slow.

Tiehack at Buttermilk stay a fixed grip double for quite some time. There were talks about replacing it with a detachable quad, but locals got really mad because that's where their secret powder stash is located.
Thunderbowl at Aspen Highlands was a good idea I think. However, Gent's Ridge needs to be replaced with a HSQ.

Private powder stash. That's bogus. The one difference between the four areas here and other resorts like Vail is that there is snow to be found all day long even with high-speed lifts on a powder day. Tiehack even with a HSQ would remain a stash because there are so many beginner skiers there. On a powder day I'm going to head for Snowmass over Buttermilk. I don't know what kind of local would head for Buttermilk.
I like the line choice for the Thunderbowl Triple, but the lift is so slow. I've noticed (maybe you can comment on this) that the three recent recent fixed grip installs at Aspen-Snowmass seem to run slower than 500 fpm - Campground, Thunderbowl, FIS. Gent's Ridge is another Poma crawler from the early 80s. For Campground I wish they would've just shortened the Riblet Double. That was a fine lift and the replacement offers no improvement for the rider.
Thunderbowl would be great if it were a HS lift. I'd would certainly tempt me to ski at Highlands more. Presently, if I'm going to ski Golden Horn I'm going to ride Exhibition even if it means having to take that long catwalk. I rode the triple once and I have no desire to ride it again.
