Did I miss any?? if so, post it. The truck I'll be driving this winter is an '89 GMC 3/4-ton 4X4. 4-speed heavy duty tranny, 350 engine, gets about 10-12 MPG :crying: If I could get any truck I wanted it would of course be this one!! :w00t:

GMC...we've got two of 'em.
My name doesn't mean I ski a lot. It means that I'm big, and I'm a skier.

we've had our GMC for 18 years. I like Internationals (my dad calls 'em "corn-binders"! ) as they're the first BIG truck I've driven. The ones I drive at work in the summer are *hardly* corn-binders!

Dodge for sure for a daily driver but pie in the sky I too would love to have a CXT or a GMC Top Kick Monroe Pickup conversion.

My parents have a Durango that they've been happy with. is the TopKick available with 4WD?

A GMC is really no different than a Chevy, right? I voted for Toyota in the import catgory because the Tundra seems like a pretty solid truck. And oh by the way, it is made in Texas so it isn't really an import at all.

Pretty much, with a few minor differences. International uses Allison automatics, which are made by GM. Ford is also one of their partners.

I like the older Toyota pickup trucks, they got 29mpg! Also I'm a Chevy fan so I had to choose them. Chevy is a sub company to GM, for anyone who doesn't know.

Why couldn't they of come up with "Global Cooling"?

Yep the majority are 4X4 and are actualy perform well off road but the only problem is that they are a little to wide for many trails. Just for comparison the roof of my dodge dakota comes to the bottom of the windows of this truck.

Heres my favorite version of the truck, not the movie though.

Yeah, they're pretty much the same. With the newer pickups, their styles are a little different, though.

come on, let's get some more votes for the big one of the bunch! :w00t:

Chevy/GMC come in a close second to me. Chevy/GMC used to be my #1 choice until I got my hands on a big truck this year!

I have an '04 Toyota Tacoma that I've been really happy with. With a manual transmission and the V6, I get around 25 MPG. I always had Volkswagens before this so, I can't comment on owning any other trucks. We have both Chevys and Fords at work. We don't have any automatics in Lift Maintenance, but I had to borrow a F250 with an automatic transmission from another department and it sucked.

(I had an '01 GTI that I traded in to get my truck. It was a little rocket and it got 42 MPG.)

Except for one rig, all we have in our department are 4-speed auto F-250s. You're right, they do suck. (Part of that is due to their age and the fact that 95% of their mileage has been in low range on crappy roads).
Personally, I prefer GM products. I've had great luck with them and they run practically forever.

I have an '87 full size Chevy Blazer that I've had for 7 yrs now that still runs great, has no rust, and no major body damage (gets about 10mpg hasn't been a daily driver in over 2 yrs). I just bought a 2005 Silverado Z71 and I really really like this truck (gets between 18-22). So you know my vote by now. As for the lift maint. department here at Jackson Hole, the gondola has a 2000 chevy 3/4 ton auto, lift maint. has a few chevy 3/4 ton manual trans, and 1 or 2 fords. I guess they all run pretty well but I wouldn't really know since we have our own truck at the gondola.

Lift Mistress- I traded my 2001 Jetta VR6 in on the new truck, really fast and fun car to drive! About 70,000 miles it started having some problems though and I guess the problems are common with Jettas of the same vintage so we got rid of it.

With the issues my brother is having with his Audi wagon and the stories I have heard from fellow co-workers who own Audi's and VWs, I am not too sure I will consider an Audi or VW now.. I was told by someone that apparently the reliability ratings are rather low for the VW.. Not sure if there is any truth to this.

A previous work truck was a 2003 Tacoma 2WD with the 6 CYL. Tough for a 6'2" guy like me to fit into, but the thing was a rocket and was very solid up to around 130,000 miles which is when all kinds of things started to go wrong. The company decided to get rid of it after it was determined there was a crack in the engine block and the transmission was on its way out. It had received excellent care and treatment up till that time. Guess they do not build them as well as they used to, my neighbor has a 88 4Runner with 310,000 miles on the original engine with a rebuilt tranny, the thing is going to rust to death before the engine quits.

I am currently looking at getting a 2007 GMC Sierra 4X4. Maybe by the end of the month.
