Sometimes, the direct, methodical approach to a problem isn't the best one.

Try adding up all of the whole integers between 1 and 256. Calculators are not allowed - only a pencil and your imagination.

How did you do it? How log did it take?

You can either use the 'Summation' feature on your TI graphing calculator.

2+255=257
3+254=257
4+253=257

257 x 128 = 32,896
Is that right? It took about 30 seconds.
