I guess after watching that video you would get the perception that they did not like that lift. In some ways I think maybe they were blowing off steam and hoping to get a few seconds of fame on youtube. Growing up in western NY state skiing at the Peek-n-Peak ski area they had an old hall double on the far left side of the ski area. I used to spend all day skiing over there because I loved that lift and they had replaced all their others with CTEC triples (and doubles in the beginners area.) I went there a couple years back and saw that they had removed that lift and a little tear came into my eye because I so loved that old lift, in some ways because it seemed like no one else did! I thought that it had charecter to it unlike the other lifts on the mountain that all looked like each other and if I saw them doing that to this lift I would have been pissed off, but if they did that to the other lifts on the mountain I could have cared less. So in some ways I can see both sides of the issue. I think though that with that lift goes some of the charecter of that side of the mountain, both at Vail and Peek-n-Peak.

I surrender my high horse.

(Isn't it weird how upcoming b-days make a guy all nostalgic?)

Agree, what a careless way to do it. The weird thing is they actually sold those chairs to people as a charity benefit I think. What a dumb way to get rid of a lift. Sun Valley gave their old lifts this year to a non-profit ski area.

Like Brighton removed old lifts Evergreen and Millicent and the old lifts went to Crytrail, Washington. That is nice to use better than destory lifts.

What's interesting is that the video is tagged 'comedy'. Those guys were definitely playing to the camera...

That would be a blast! Although I like old lifts and hate to see them come down and those workers should have not been playing with the chairs due to if one fell on them they could be hurting.

Why couldn't they of come up with "Global Cooling"?

I'm pretty sure they're aware of that. The chairs did still have to come off line and that was a quick way to do it. If they hadn't done it before the senior guys told them what to expect.
