Just by debunking the stories surrounding it.
The real answer...let me really load test it.

Yes, machines probably don't have a soul or a heart, but they do have a history. This particular lift has a great one.
It provided safe passage for many years to who knows how many guests. Home to some of the best views of real day bump skiing ever. (Spademan bindings and Scott boots on 200's.)
I cut teeth on this lift years ago and it was old then.
Too many names of people and old friends come to mind when considering Chair 10.
So, I hope Vail saw fit to fire these guys if for nothing else but re-defining "Moron" in the lift dictionary.
That old lift deserved better.
By the way, real lift mechanics could take a Riblet clip out by twisting a chair without a 10 ft. 4 x 4.

you said it! If I were the boss I'd fire 'em for not using the right equipment and it looked like they were horseplaying. There's a right and a wrong way to dismantling something. I was joking on my earlier comment.

I feel the same way about Eagle at Badger Pass. I didn't learn to ride there, but I've had a great time with that lift. She's got a lot of life left!

Vail did sell their chairs from 10. I talked to the lift maintenance dispatcher.
