It was removed along with Erikson the same year as Summit Express was put in, so 1997. I don't ever remember it running, and it looked as though it hadn't run in 10 years. And that was 10 years ago! They've removed a lot of lifts off the front side. Packsaddle I, Erikson, Ida Belle, and Saints John. I'm thinking that there might be more. I'm quite surprised that Argentine's still there.
The last season that Ida Belle ran for the public was '98 and it was removed in '99, a group of carriers were run up the line for evac training in a pulse lift like setup with four close together. It didn't open very often as the other lifts on the mountain provide and did at the time provide more than enough uphill capacity for the run SAOT (Skiers At One Time). Argentine will be around for a bit longer and has had significant work done so that it can be used for at least 5-10 more years at which point most likely a HSQ would replace it out of the base. Without Argentine or a replacement in place if Peru goes down that whole side of the mountain is not able to be open and anyone who booked a ski-in ski-out condo would be very upset, again ski area design driven by real estate. Plus when the Mountain House base area is closed Argentine is the only way for employees, most of which have locker rooms in the Mountain House base, to quickly access the mountain.

Maybe summer of 09'. Not really sure though! They could use a new system.
The last official release was summer of '08 but that was for just extending the current system. No other official releases but rumor is a new system but when is anyone's guess.
