Old video, pretty cheesy. They made it out of a 5.5HP Briggs & Stratton motor.

my father used to use one of these for summer training in europe... said that it was very useful. the lift got buried in an avalanche on a glacier (he and his friend escaped mostly unharmed) and was not recovered for three years.
