Yesterday was the first official day of summer even though it seems like it has been going for weeks already. And if anyone's south of the equator right now, I wish I was there with you. It makes me wonder if Kiwi lifties like never seeing summer, or wish that the seasons weren't polar opposites.

It's been quite warm here too. We're at 4000 feet in the valley. With the wimpy winter we had rafting season opened early. And we're going to close soon, as the river's dropping :crying: It figures--we're closing when it gets warm! Last year we opened at the beginning of July and closed after Labor Day. So I'm kinda looking forward to winter as I always end up with 'grunt' jobs like dumping garbage cans until Badger opens. And there's not near as many crowds in the park in winter. It's very peaceful.

Up the coast a bit in the rainiest city in North America we have been quite dry so far this cruise ship season. Most of our days have been sunny or overcast with only a few rainy days.

There is a school in Park City, UT which is like this. You go to school in the spring, summer and fall and have winter off. The school was designed for winter athletes who don't have the time for school during this season.

In my best Nelson impression.... "HA-HA" That must have been a localized storm... it was a little cloudly and drizzly in the morning - then it cleared up and was nice! That is pretty unf&%nbelievable though!!

 :shocking: WOW!

It'll be busy here in Yosemite until Labor Day, then things will slow down. The 4th of July can get crazy around here.

most times...in Salt Lake Valley, the temperture is average 100. Wasatch Mountain...the snow is gone. I went up to Brighton, and there is no snow. That is early June, which it is not normal. The snow was supposed to be gone by middle of July. Also there is no raining since middle of April. Some grasses become yellow due pollan envirnment. Sad.

Alot of folks forget that Utah and Colorado are considered to be mountain desert regions.

A desert is not only detirmined by the temperature but also by the percipitation. Colorado and Utah are very dry climates and as such much of both states are concidered montaine or temperate desert.
