So today i had the 'wonderfull' oppunitunity to visit the Meadowlands of the :censored2: :censored2: state of New Jersey. Had to delever in Carstadt. The off ramp/ road i had to take took me right next to that indoor ski thing they are building.
Now my queston is. What are lift passes going to cost for this, not to mentioned parking fees?
And who wants to ski on ice in a room that's nothing more than a huge freezer? I would rather save my $$, fly out to a real ski hill, in the great outdoors.
Sorry no photos, as i was paing attention to the wonderfull New Jersey 4 wheelers. :censored2: :censored2:

Hopefully it's free parking. There's no way I would even consider indoor skiing if you had to pay $15 just to park. Also this isn't the kind of place that one would spend a whole day at. The tickets probably go by the hour. But then they probably nickel and dime you for renting gear. Remember this is Joisey. :censored2:

I've never been to New Joisey for more than driving through it and transferring at Newark Liberty Airport. That place really doesn't give someone a good impression of the state. It's built next to a :censored2: oil dump! :cursing:

Your so correct about it not being a very good represetive of the state. Miles and miles of industry. I'm glad i don't get this far east all that often.
Thankfully i escape tomorrow for San Antonio.

Cool, something I know about :)

So the good:
I lived most my life in the UK and use to go to indoor snowdomes all the time! Pariculary Milton Keynes Xscape and Tamwirth snow dome. There were special evening sessions that were $50-70 for 4 hours on a friday or sat night with rails and jumps out, normally the hourly rate is between $30-50.

If you want to ride powder or do deep fast carving, these 150-170m slopes will not cut it. If you want to go hit some medium rails and small-medium jumps it is great fun!

In the UK there is a great scene that revolves around these facilities, mainly snowboarders on other interspaz forums www.snowboardclub.co.uk and on on adtrip (hit the adtrip bar for a great fun forum). People meet up at weekends to ride, then post on the forum regarding the setup and then plan holidays and socials etc . . . A great community of 15-70years has formed in the UK around them.

Now the bad.
Tamworth is an old facility, in the summer it can get foggy in there and it can get pretty icy. But it is run by a great team that really care about their customers!

Xscape are a bunch of a-holes. They have AMAZING potential but do not maintain the lifts or the slope. They can be real icy out there. . .

Overall, I use to ride at least once a week, because in the UK there are not many options. If you want a fix in teh summer it is great.

Of course, now I live in Portland I hit the Hood all year round.

Hope that helps!

$50-70! That could get you a whole day at most resorts in the US.

2-3 full days in the midwest!!

That doesn't seem to be worth it for skiing in a dome when you could go to a ski area/resort.........

Maybe, but in the UK there are not a lot of options! There just is not the snow or the mountains. Not to mention the summer time when only T-line can run a lift in the summer.

It is fun spending a Friday night hitting rails and stuff, makes a change from bar-life.

As you were ;)
