I think all the towers on that lift are Yan- two or three might just have Dopp towerheads.

It can be scary on ANY tower de-riming! You have to be sitting out on the assembly with the haul rope up your bum... to put it politely :) This is especially true on the larger assemblies with 8+ sheaves.

the ones that are doppelmayr or ALL Doppelamayr.

I seem to remember them being Yan towers, with Doppelmayr line machinery. Doppelmayr did so many Yan refits, both fixed-grip and detachable, that they got pretty good at making their stuff fit on Yan's existing towers. For an interesting solution to that issue, see the pics of the Sunrise Express at Bachelor that are in the chairlift section of the main page.

Breckenridge at one point a few years back used conveyor loading for the Beaver Run Superchair. The conveyor was never very efficient and often times caused beginners to fall and become confused when loading. It also caused damage to ski bases. I dont remember the years that it was uesd but it only lasted one or two seasons.

Sounds just like the conveyors at Crystal on Midway and C-9- both beginner lifts.

If the guy from Falls Creek Australia is talking about the Village Eight Express at Perisher Blue...I was on that lift this September...pretty neat setup...got to go up in the motor room and look around....the grips onthose things are HUGE!....well pretty much everything about that carrier is huge...pretty neat altogether

Speaking of Offset Towers, Conquest has one or two offset Towers. Once they open the run under the lift i will start taking pics of that lift. (solvista)

  • Interests:I am interested in ski lifts as anthing with moving parts interests me. Mechanical machines have always been a passion of mine. I am very, very technololgically minded and enjoy working on computers as well as A/V equipment. I am currently on the tech crew at my school.

Anyone ever ridden the North American double at norquay? i heard it's a Garaventa.

I've ridden the Banff Gondi which was rebuilt by Garventa. Though most of the stuff is orignal Bell Equipment.

In Killington Vt there is a lift that travels as a triangle and you ride around a 45 degrees turn. There is only two normal towers on the whole lift.

That's gotta be a colossal waste of metal with the towers - twice as many. I forget, can you get on or off at the turn?

the South Ridge Triple used to have a midstation, however now it is not used, that was the purpose of the turn. Originally the thought of a midstation was for early, pre-snowmaking skiing. I have pictures of it from new years but I still am waiting for the film to get back. At that Time I wil also have pictures of Sugarbush.
