Over President's day weekend I went to Brian head so as soon as I get the images off my camera I'll send them to Cameron and if he wants Brianhead will be another resort off the to do list.

Anyway Brianhead is total Yan country not a single lift is not a Yan. And on top of that all lifts but one are triples so all the same parts pretty much for everything, a smart way to run a small resort if you ask me.

Any way I'll also post the pics in the Ski Resort Picture Fourm so there you go,

They have those lying around the base area?

Anybody seen backrests like that on other lifts?

I haven't seen those yan ones but @ Lake Louise they have random Yan HSQ bubble chairs (used on the old Yan summer gondola) they use as benches outside the lodge

Loveland had Poma retrofit Chair 8 a few years back, and they turned a pile of the old Yan quad carriers into benches which are scattered about the base. Copper replaced all of S-lift's plastic (triple) seats with steel a few years back; those also got made into benches.

Very true all the lifts were in imaculet condition. Old doesn't nessiarily mean bad as I remember John's old signature went something like this
"An old well maintained lift is a beauty to behold."

I think it is closed for now, but in my opinion, there is a great small resort on the way to Brian Head from SLC. It is called Elk Meadows. I used to ski there during college because it was much cheeper than Brian Head. For a small resort, the terrain was great. I always liked going there over Brian Head because of the small town/resort feel and the non-existant lift lines. I wonder what ever happened to close Elk Meadows and when, if ever, they are going to open it.

I believe the owner of Elk Meadows didn't have the money to pay the bank loan and they foreclosed on the ski area. But the ski area was just sold so it might open for next season.

I really enjoyed that place. It just seemed a little too far off of the beaten path. I hope they get back up and rolling again.
