Just back from a Europe tour saw this and had to post...
midpoint on the line the sheaves are at 45 angle allowing rope to deflect...
top drive station behind the Terminal sheaves rope goes into vault I could not get access
I asked but they wouldn't let me probably because I had a beer in my hand...

built in 1905
cap 80 passengers
fare 50 kopeks = 10 cents US
