Hole in this tower?

Look closely at the bottom of this tower. There appear to be several large holes. :shocking:

is there no limit on attachments anymore? Hooray!

Edit: After a closer look, the holes are in the sheet metal that forms the almond shape and not the actual tower. Regardless, these towers could use a paint job and some new ladders.

Were you on that lift when you took the picture? That's scary. Just a few good kicks and you'd have it falling like a tree.

From what I can tell, those holes appear to be located in the avalanche guard, rather than the actual tower.

That’s called an Avalanche splitter and is not part of the structural portion of the tower. Those are foot/hand holes for accessing the lower portion of the ladder. Any ladder in this section will be quickly damaged by avalanches or plain old snow creep – which can be quite substantial -1 foot per week.
