I came across this new search tool on Google for patents:

Amazing. I found a grip by yan I'd never seen before. It seems that it was activated by the accelerator and decelerator which were conveyor belts similiar to those that Habegger (Switzerland, purchased by vonRoll) used.

Scary to see that there was more explanation about a sheave train than about a detachable grip (both of which turned out to be bad in the end anyway)
