Okay the Zephyr Express at winter park turns into a gondola at night says the comments on the page. Can anyone tell me how this works?

It's quite simple actually. A certain amount of carriers are removed from the line and are replaced by gondola cabins. I'm sure one of the Winter Park employees on this forum can explain it, but it's nothing special. There are a few other HSQs that can be converted to a gondola, like the Glacier Chaser at Big Mtn.

They take all of the chairs off, and have 8 groups of 5 cars (I think) and just run it as normal. I don't understand how they open the doors since there are no door rails.

I've actually seen this done... a while ago. They didn't remove all of the chairs, just a few in a row and they are replaced with gondola cars that are stored in the building adjacent to the lower terminal. Next time you ride Zephyr, take a look at the rails that lead into that building. This process was repeated a few times so that there were several sets of cars in increments along the line. Also, there are rails to open/close the doors. There's not much to them, but they're there...
