Here are some plans I found of the new gondola at Timberline and Skibowl. Well at least the lift line.

Here is the proposed Timberline Express. It will be their 5th HSQ. This ski area isn't even that big of a resort too.

Well I read in a 1999 SAM today that the gondola was supposed to have been installed in 2002, but said that the Forest Serivce was still looking over stuff, but if this gondola goes in, it will have the highest verticle at 4,700 feet and it will be over 3 miles in length. The gondola is also going to have a midstation which is going to access cross country trails. This is probably why it hasn't gone in yet.

Wow. 4700' vertical is pretty big.

How big will the cabins be? (4,6, 8...)

Any idea if this gondola has gone ahead, stalled or been abandoned?

Theres a place for all of God's creatures, right next to the mashed potatoes.

Plans are still in the works, but I don't think no one has any idea who will be paying for it. I think the resorts want the government to pay for it but some developer might build it too.

Will the new gondola use some of the lift line from the Skiway?

Yes, it will run up the former skiway lift line. However, when I talked to Jerry from Doppelmayr CTEC about it, he was unsure when this gondola will go in. He said that the route to Ski Bowl will go in before the route up to Timberline. As of right now, Government Camp still needs a lot of work before it becomes a major ski town.

Ski bowl is going to be attached to the same gondola? Or is that a different project?

Well being in Portland this weekend, I found out that lots up in Gov Camp are going like hotcakes and for quite bit of money. Seems to be a spending spree in the town.

So both the gondi and the hsq will be made by DoppCtec?

I have a feeling that the HSQ will be Doppelmayr, but I have no clue about the gondola. From the concept drawings I have seen of the gondola, it appears to have leitner-poma tower heads. But that's just an artists rendering of what the lift will look like.
