The lift is coming along very well, and barring any unforseen problems it will be ready for the 12th.

WB has 2 nights for the price of 3 promo going on now.
Any inside scoop on how the progress is going?

Hopefully the promo is 3 for the price of 2, otherwise its not much of a promo. Sounds like fun though. I have always wanted to ski & ride at Whistler although will probably not be able to make this the year. It is pretty far from CO.

 Uh, typo. I haven't been to WB in 8-9 years, and now that my 15 year old son is ripping pretty good were going to go this year for sure. I'd like to make a quick cheap trip on opening weekend for the gondola. Any one up for it?

It looks like the last 2 cabins are moved! Are they all on line now?

The Whistler and Blackcomb webcams show cabins on line right now.

... and they're moving.

I went to whistler 3 years ago, and when the village express broke - you either could stand 45mins in a line for garbanzo and then ride the deathtrap that was the orange chair to get to whistler mountain, or go on blackcomb express to blackcomb. Looks like this may solve the problem.

I get your point, but the lifts you mention don't seem to add up. If you rode the garbanzo, you'd unload at the same place as the orange chair unloads. Riding down to orange and back up wouldn't get you any more up the mountain.

...as in they're removing it, or they have plans to do so?

It's three lift rides, but one can get up Fitzsimmons, Garbanzo, and then Emerald if the Village Express is down. Alternately, you can ski down to Big Red from Garbanzo and ride up that way.

Orange has been sold. For now, all the carriers and the rope are gone, towers and terminals to be taken out in the spring/summer...

Do you know who bought it? I know Summit Lift Co. had it listed on their website: http://www.summitliftco.net/images/Used_Do...ft_For_Sale.pdf

Uh oh, from a Moonlight Basin employee posted on TGR:

"Norm was here on Sat. and did our cable inspections. He got called to Whistler for an emergency. Seems they were practicing the evac procedures on the Peak to Peak gondola and had some problems and may have damaged their haul rope, he will be back. If I have the time I will shoot some stills Wed. and post them. Cable splicing is pretty cool to see."

I doubt they'll replace it since it only ran on busy days anyway.

Any updates on the condition of the haul rope on Peak to Peak? Will it load public before December 12th?

Orange chair is going away and the P2P will be open on the 12th. The haul rope issue was minor and has been resolved.
