Mine is the old one at Aspen Mtn. It had a unique design, and it's a shame that they replaced it with a gondola that looks like everyone elses.

I liked the old tram at Jackson, and I like the gondola at Steamboat.

My favorite tram is the Klein Matterhorn tram at Zermatt, Incredibly steep, very high and great views plus you unload inside the mountain and have the option from there of walking out and going skiing or riding the rest of the way to the top via elevator for the best views, eventhough you cant ski from the top due to terain limitations.

Theres a place for all of God's creatures, right next to the mashed potatoes.

"You could say that a mountain is alot like a woman, once you think you know every inch of her and you're about to dip your skis into some soft, deep powder...Bam, you've got two broken legs, cracked ribs and you pay your $20 just to let her punch your lift ticket all over again"

I also like the Gondola at Lutsen. It is really slow and tight, but I love vintage tramways! One thing that I really like about the design of the lift is the depression sheave systems. The grip has rollers that hit a guide on the depression towers. That way the grip doesn't ride on the assembly making the ride smooth!

Also, the cliff right before the Moose Mountain station is kind of cool. Very rocky and the gondola is very high up. The comm line is below the cars on this section of the lift. Very vintage lift. My favorite ride.

My favorite tram is the one and only Jackson Hole Aerial Tram, but I would say that my favorite gondola is the BreckConnect. It's a very nice ride, even though half of the cars smell like weed. But yesterday afternoon, it was stopped for 20 minutes (any guesses as to why?). The car that my friend and I were in got to the bottom station, and the doors opened exactly as it stopped. I couldn't help but feel sorry for the people who were in the car behind us and had to wait 20 minutes 4 feet from the door rail. The problem was that my dad was halfway down the gondola near the Shock Hill station when it stopped, and he had the keys to the car. So we just waited for half an hour sitting on the bumper. Anyway, it's a great addition to Breckenridge.

One reason why the stops are longer, is because there are 4 stations. Each station must be called and informed of the reason for stopping the lift. Somebody at one of the stations needs to record the exact reson for stopping. That takes like 5-7 mins. 20 seems long. Somethin else must haved happened or they were starting the AUX up to run it with passengers. That takes a long time to do.

I've only been on the Snowbird tram, so I guess that makes it my favorite. For gondolas. the Flight of The Canyons Poma 8-passenger (the only Poma in Utah). It's not a very unique lift except for the 400 foot gorge it goes over after the "Welcome to The Canyons" and "Wow!" signs

Per CPTSB (Colorado Passenger Tramway Safety Board) only stops of 10 minutes and over have to be logged. Unless there is a malfunction needing attention or an injury to a passenger resulting in a stop.

Favorite Gondola: Silver Mountain's Gondola (It's just so long and endless)
Favorite Tram: Schilthorn's Trams 1 & 2 (This thing is really unique)

There are actually two more POMA lifts in Utah at Elk Meadows.

I totally forgot about the Lutsen gondola... I love that old thing--especially because you never know what'll happen when you're on it- We all know that thing's been through a few rocky couple of years with the falls and all...my friends call it the death trolley. I like the top when first leaving moose and going down the cliff because the wind kinda blows the cabin sideways and I always find myself holding on for dear life.

Fun eh? One of the days I was there, (the day i took most of the gondola pictures) the gondola closed due to 60 mph winds. Those cabins are so light that on calm days they blow around on the cliff. I can't even imagine the swinging cabins with 60 mph winds!!!!! :wacko2:

That WAS my favorite Gondola, when it was the Loon Mountain Go-Go. It looked cool with tripod towers and pumkin orange cabins. I suppose now I'm partial to its replacement (cool tripod towers). Its not running today because of 50-70mph cross winds at the summit. I guess that means I can go service the terminals...

The jigback funitel at Chute Montmorency, in Quebec city. (Well, if it really is a funitel is still a mystery, but it really looks like one.)

I thought Park City's gondola went to Lutsen, but maybe it uses parts from both?

The gondi at lutsen is all from Loon Mountain. I'm not sure what happened to the Park City gondola though.
