Where was the first first HST In the US: I would say Mt. Bachelor's Summit Express, which was built in 1983.

Where was the first HSD (i know that one) In the US: I guess Ruthies Express at Aspen. However, Mt. Spokan installed a detachable double chair built by Riblet, kind of a funky looking thing which I saw in SAM magazine. However I don't know the line speed so I can't say how fast it actually went.

Fastest Lift in the USA would be a tram. Jackson Hole's might be the fastest since it was completely rebuilt not too long ago.

Where was the first Six pack installed in the US: This lift is located in the Midwest at a Boyne resort. I can't think of the name right now.

That's easy, Australia. This lift is so short it only has 5 towers or something and replaced a T-Bar. Talk about slope congestion! :---:

Hmm can someone post a couple pictures of a high speed double as i have never seen one or even knew of their existance. Also why would a resort put one in vs. a HS triple or ither lift types? and finally where are these high speed doubles and who made them?

Well Riblet made the first detachable double chair back in the olden days. Ruthies at Apsen is a pretty new lift built in 97 by Poma. This lift replaced a double chairlift and I guess Apsen wanted to have the same capacity of the older lift, but make the ride time faster since it was a pretty long lift. This lift doesn't access a lot of runs if you want to ski back to the lower station, however it is another means of transportation to get to the top rather than taking the gondola.

I believe it was Boyne Mountain that installed the first sixpack in the US. They went and installed two at Crystal right after that- probably the next year.

The short 8-pack at Perisher is quite... interesting from what I've heard. The foreman at K-lift used to work there when they installed it, and he tells me that it was purely a marketing decision. I guess it works well in that application, although it wouldn't seem like it.

If Riblet made a detachable double, they'd have to have a different grip somewhere. Th only Riblets I've seen detach are the ones where I've stuck a 2x4 through the armrests and twisted the chair

The Riblet I saw in their add said it was a detachable and it had two haul ropes. I will try to find that lift ad and get a picture. It was basically an add about how they were the first with everything. First Double, First Triple, First Quad, etc. Something like that, and it shows pictures of those lifts.

I think there were two HSS's at Mt. St. Louis-Moonstone in Ontario that were built in the early 90's...don't know the year, though.
