It will be closer to the Jan date, it may be early or pushed back further. The Peak 7 Station is not complete, The haul rope is not up, also the cabins are not asembled with hanger arms, and probably a whole lot of other things that are not readily obvious. Mike would probably know better. Theres still a lot of work left to do.

Theres a place for all of God's creatures, right next to the mashed potatoes.
"You could say that a mountain is alot like a woman, once you think you know every inch of her and you're about to dip your skis into some soft, deep powder...Bam, you've got two broken legs, cracked ribs and you pay your $20 just to let her punch your lift ticket all over again"

There are new pics in the photo gallery at leitner-poma.com. It looks like the last station to be built is getting there.

The peak 7 station has the sides on and it looks like most of the equipment is in but the curved roof is not complete yet.

Theres not a huge push to open the gondola this season since its already being built early and the main development construction hasn't even begun. Plus there is work to still be done but it doesnt seem to be enough that they will have to push back the opening again unless there are weather delays, which we have had alot rescently, or other unforseen circumstances.

The haul rope is now up. Although not under tension.

The gondola opened on Sat. 12/30.
They had been doing all of the final tests, training, and received state certification last week.
They said it were originally going to wait until after Christmas week, in order to work all the bugs out during a non-busy time.
Anyone ridden it yet?
I left town Saturday morning, otherwise I would've been on it.

I rode the gondola today, all in all a nice ride. They did design it to have opening windows in the typical style of cwa cabins but there are plexiglass "screens" that have small holes drilled in them to allow air in but no litter out. There was no line today and I was able to get some pics of it, I have arround 100 but I will only post a few for now since im on dial up.

I rode the new gondola on Tuesday- January 9, 2007.
The honeymoon is over. After searching, maybe I missed it but, they are charging $10.00 for parking in the MINERS and TAILINGS lots. The only free lots are POSTAL and GOLDRUSH. Both the POSTAL and GOLDRUSH lots were full by noon - and this was a Tuesday (I got there by 10:00am).
The gondola is free to ride but they are scanning your passes (to see if the pass commuters are using it). The bus is still faster.
They should have charged a 'NEW Construction' realestate tax or motel tax to pay for it insteasd of a 'driver's' tax.
