It seems as though lifts are not being finished on time and customers are getting upset...

From Wolf Creek's homepage:

"Due to circimstances beyond Wolf Creek‘s control the new Raven Lift will not be in operation for Thanksgiving. For more information on the opening date of the Raven Lift contact Jan Leonard at Doppelmayer CTEC, 801-973-7977."

It seems a lot of projects are not yet complete, and the Beaver Creek gondola has been put off until next summer after being half built.

Lifts not load tested (I think):

Symphony Express, Whistler

Raven Express, Wolf Creek

Peruvian Express, Snowbird

Beaver Creek Gondola

OHSU Tram

Tombstone Express, The Canyons

probably others...

As I mentioned on Brad's forum, Wolf Creek put in an extremely late bid and it's kind of their fault for wanting a high-speed quad so late in the summer. I'm sure the lift will be rolling very soon, but I don't think Wolf Creek has any pictures of the lift on its website to see how far along it is to being finished.

The OHSU tram was scheduled to be load tested last week so I'm guessing that's done. I would also say Peruvian and Tombstone are finished since they're so close to Doppelmayr CTEC.

Lots of photos here: http://www.wolfcreekski.com/photos.asp
The splice was done a couple weeks ago so I don't know what the hold up is.

Pretty bold for a resort to inform its customers to contact a specific individual at D-C about their lift not being ready.

No kidding about that bold move...they must have a serious beef with D-C. Those splice pics are pretty cool, though.

have you ever consider, that there may causes that are out of control of the manufactor or installers, to as why a lift may not be ready?
Weather. If a storm hits a resort where they need to use the mtn roads to acess the place where the lift is being installed, the resort needs to low the plow the road. If it's to cold to pour cement, or if the road is muddy, you could spend a full day trying drag trucks up hile with a cat.
Maybe they had problems during the intsallinon, or manufactoring of the parts.
All parts are transported via truck, to the site. Maybe the trucking company had problems. Or if the parts where built in Europe, maybe they had problems with customs.
Or maybe the install team was short staffed, and can only do so much. I would think , those who oreded thier lifts early last spring, would be in line to have thier built first, rather than those who ordered thiers in mid summer.

Tombstone at The Canyons had better be ready pretty quick, if it's not already. The forcast has about a foot of snow coming today and tomorrow. Tombstone is the only access to the whole south end of the resort.

I was briefly at TC for opening day and while it looked like Tombstone had the haul rop up there were no carriers yet and I didn't see any when looking at their web cam yesterday. Shoudn't be too difficult to get to though, there are roads pretty much right up to the bottom terminal and it's just a few hundred vertical feet higher than the base area so snow probably won't be anywhere as bad as it would be higher up.

I totally agree. It's like waiting in line at a store. Is the guy in front of you going to go next or are you going to go ahead of him? Which is fair? I think it is fully the resort's fault. Doppelmayr can't be blamed for not getting those lifts done.

Wolf Creek's load test is tomorrow, hopefully for Jan Leonard it passes.
The Tahoe-Zephyr Express at Northstar is opening January 5th, way late.
Symphony Express at Whistler opens December 16th
Peruvian Express "near future" The load test was originally scheduled for Oct. 10th!

Sterling at DV was ready in time for opening day yesterday
Dreamcatcher at The Canyons should be open soon enough, it looks like it's been ready for a while, just waiting on the snow
