I know we have listed some before, but here is an excel spreadsheet that I have compiled of lifts that have been moved around North America. Right now I have about 100 moves listed. If anyone can help with more info to correct and fill in the blanks, that would be great because I know there are more. The ones closer to the bottom have the most missing info.

Hey Skier- any way you could post that in its original form? I can't download it as I don't have Excel on my computer.

Without having seen the ist, here are a few that I know of:

Crystal Mountain (WA)- C-6 Campbell Basin, Hall 2-CLF w/Riblet drive, built '68(?) at Yodelin (WA), rebuilt at Crystal '78

Stevens Pass- Tye Mill, Riblet 2-CLF, built at '68(?) at Yodelin, rebuilt at Stevens '76 (?) [now a triple, little of the original lift remains]

Copper Mountain (CO)- Mountain Chief, Yan 2-CLF, originally J-lift, built '77, removed '94, rebuilt '95

Copper Mountain- Blackjack, Yan 2-CLF, originally I-lift, built '73, removed '94, rebuilt '96

Copper Mountain- C-1 Pitchfork, Heron 2-CLF, originally Molly Hogan at Arapahoe Basin, built '70 (?), removed '79, rebuilt '79 with Yan drive and return terminal structures

I think the Raptor quad at The Canyons was originally the Saddleback quad, but that was in the Wolf Mountain years so I don't know the dates

Red Hawk at The Canyons -> Sunrise at The Canyons? Converted from a quad to a double and moved over a little, but still serves the same terrain

JH, with Danny and Craig's help, installed Winter Park's Yanoma (Yan Poma) Eskimo lift a couple of years ago.
I don't think the censors will permit me to say what the JH boys think......

Now, remember, I Do Not work there anymore.

I'm pretty sure you're right on this one...my old boss helped with the re-alignment of that lift 4 yrs ago.

Does anyone know where the old Southern Comfort Heron-Poma Triple came from at Big Sky? It was installed in 1991, so it couldn't have been new. How about Lone Moose at Big Sky? It is a Yan triple from somewhere...

The Carrousel lift at Mt. Bachelor is the former Sunrise triple chair.

Lone Moose, maybe Clipper from Deer Valley?

Still need to find out where the two Yan's came from at Pebble Creek, ID.

No, Clipper was supposed to go to Warner Canyon, but Deer Valley sold it out from under them.

I think the Sierra (S-Lift) and Rendezvous (R-lift) at Copper were brand new lifts when they were installed in 1983 and 1982 respectively.
The Discovery lift at Winter Park is the original E-lift at Copper Mountian installed in 1972 and moved to Winter Park in 1984 when the Triple version of E- lift was built. Some modifications were made to the Discover lift by Yan when it was re-installed in Winter Park such as: Yan bottom return station, top vault drive station (The original E-lift had a bottom vault drive station) and Yan lifting frames and tower heads on all of the towers. The remainder of the original E-lift chairs can be found inside "Pepperoni's" restaurant at the base of Mary Jane. They still have the distinctive butterscotch color with green seats found on all of Copper's original Heron double chairs (B, E, G )

This explains a great deal, except- didn't double-E have the same tower caps as the Herons over on the Jane? Discovery does not. Keep in mind I never saw that lift, but in the photos I've seen all the other lifts built at Copper that year looked like Challenger, Iron Horse, et cetera.

You're correct that R and S were new installations. C-1 is the only lift we've gotten secondhand from elsewhere, while I and J (4 and 6) are inhouse reinstallations

I remembered another one for the list- C-7 Bullion Basin, installed 1974, removed 1982, relocated 1984, Thiokol triple, Crystal Mtn WA.

The tower caps were part of the Yan upgrades that were done when double E was reinstalled. The bottom terminal is an upgrade from Yan also. Not sure why the tower caps had to be replaced, maybe to provide the correct width to be compatable with the new lower terminal?

It seems that calling the Discovery Lift "the original E Lift" a stretch. E Lift was a Bottom Drive-tension, fixed return lift. If it was re-installed as a 1) Top Fixed Drive (vault)- what components were used by Yan? Did he reuse the Heron Bullwheel and drive train? 2) Yan bottom return station(tension) - did he reuse the Heron bullwheel in a YAN tension terminal? 3) Yan lifting frames and tower heads - the original tower heads and sheaves were Heron. Did Yan put his sheaves on the new tower heads or did he reuse the Heron sheaves? All of the tower tubes stayed at Copper, so he also but in new towers.
Boardski - thanks for the info. I never saw any of the equipment after it left the parking lot at Copper!

By calling the Discovery lift at Winter Park "The original 'E' lift", I actually meant that it was made from the original version of the 'E' lift at Copper, not that it has exactly the same parts and is reinstalled exactly the same way. For example, When the Black Jack lift was reinstalled from parts from the old 'I' lift, it was set up differently than the original 'I'. It is now top drive and is not a raised drive (bummer, I always thought that was cool). I will be taking my daughter skiing this weekend and will likely be riding the Discovery lift so I'll get back to you about the bullwheels and sheaves. Off-hand, I think they are the original Heron except for the depression sheaves in the bottom station which are Yan.

BTW: Does anyone know why Copper didn't just replace the double chairs with Heron triple chairs and leave the original lift in place?

Lift Dinosaur probably knows more (he was there) but Heron went out of business in '78 or '79 while double-E went down in '84.
