Of course I would never do that nor would I recommend that anyone here does cuz climbing lift towers is bad and dangerous mmmkay?

heres some pics I took at Okemo yesterday. Still not open... supposedly saturday. *crosses fingers* even though I only have a weekday pass. i might have to forgo the $30....

I have more but they are just of the ski runs themselves.

Here are some of my new photos from this Thanksgiving at Breckenridge:

View of Quicksilver from the Beaver Run SuperChair lines.

The Mercury SuperChair was not operating on this day, but I noticed that both it and the Rocky Mountain SuperChair received blue signs on their terminals similar to signs used on the Colorado SuperChair, the Falcon SuperChair, and the Beaver Run SuperChair. It does make them fit a little more in with the older lifts. Maybe it's time to put such signs on the terminals of the Peak 8 SuperConnect and Independence SuperChair?

Here's a picture of the Beaver Run Superchair taken today while it was running on Aux. power at evac speed. From what I understand, the electric motor's drive shaft was broken. Perhaps the guys from Breck could chime in on what happened.

I can see that they have added maps to the chairs of this lift, the Colorado SuperChair, and I think Quicksilver Super6? I know Vail has maps on the Vista Bahn Express and Born Free Express lifts. I still prefer no lift maps, so I think it's good that the Mercury SuperChair won't be getting them (I think it as being that the detachable lifts not starting at base areas do not have maps).

I did have some schuss photos. Unfortunately my camera decided to fall out of my coat while I was taking my dogs for a walk. I already have a replacement for it and access to schuss tickets so I will get some more before I head back to the UP. Speaking of which, are there any days you can go skiing coming up Jon? Since I have passes I will be down for some schuss skiing anytime.

I was thinking the same thing about disciples II that day. That was the first time that I have seen that many chairs filled on that lift.

Lift Kid, can I ask you where those Leitner Poma lift parts were or are going to?

:kewlpics: Great pictures, but I've got one question. Is there a reason the break-over towers are painted white?

Probably has something to do with the heat expansion issues that some lifts get if because of how their towers are set up one side gets more sun than the other and expands that side of the tower more than the other. This causes alignment issues on some lifts, (especially ones where the towers are taller or are particularly susceptible to temperature differentials)

I know Snowbird put white canvas (or vinyl?) covers on some of the towers of the Gadzoom lift for this exact reason.

I can't recall the exact specs. I believe the detach sections pictured in the yard were headed to Marmot Basin. Although I am not certain.
