Man I miss sunrises from the top of the lift! My fav was when the clouds were below me one day at the top of the K-1 and I got to watch the sunrise from above the clouds. The only other peak I could see was ascutney. Absolutely breathtaking!

Ok guys today I was reminded why I love this valley so much. The Sunrise and sunset today were perfect. I did not get any of the sunset cuz I needed to get down the hill.

Enjoy :).

The valley lift has unique carriers. They have double grip triple chairs which I haven't seen on any other lift.

This one is my favorite. The Camelot lift and Boyne day lodge on the bottom. Nubs nob with lights on top.

interesting, and neat find. The pink met a local junk yard about 10 years ago. The same junk yard also had some Boyne stuff at it this summer. Maybe some hillbilly trading went down.

The double hanger was an eariler design. The old Blue at Schuss was also like that, except with 'short clips'. Maybe you could get away with a smaller cable that way??

Went to Alta Yesterday, and I rode the Supreme lift. They installed a loading carpet over the summer. I liked it, but my first time I was wondering if the chair was going to make it before I made it to the end. I have attached some pics from it.

I'm wondering how this happened and why did the lift not shut down due to a counter fault...

It's easy on a Gondola. There are no spacing fault zones in the turnaround of a Gondola, only in the accel and decel portions of the terminals. Someone gets a pole stuck but trying to put them in the ski basket or a flat tire and an operator not paying attention and lets have some fun pushing cabins! It used to happen a couple times a week on the K-1 at Killington. It's really not that big a deal you push and space them as good as you can by hand and then the spacer at the top will take care of the rest after a few rotations.

This is an old postcard I have of the old "Helicopter Flat Pomas" at Mt Buller in Australia. I grew up on these pomas, and they have huge sentimental value for me. Two of the pomas went to the top of the Baldy run, while the third went to the base of the Summit (which had another pair of pomas - self loading!). This "Summit Access" poma was cool because you could board it on both ends, and there was actually a section over the top of Baldy where it was towing people both ways.

In the late 80s the pomas were replaced with a single triple chair (relocated from elsewhere on the mountain). During the 06/07 summer, the triple chair was replaced with a six-pack .. How times have changed!

Anyway, sorry for the bad scan - I think my scanner is dying. I also hope that posting a scan of a post card in the "photo" thread will not be considered impolite..

This shot is a Vail lift in whiteout conditions on January 25, 2009. Can you guess which lift?

Yes, although you'd have a better time knowing it's the Avanti Express if it weren't the visibility. :crying:

While looking around lift-world.info, I saw this and it just blew my mind. Doppelmayr now makes color-tinted bubbles for their chairlifts. It's a great idea, because if it's sunny you can take your goggles off if you want (not that you'd have the bubble down in that weather, though), and if it's foggy you can have some definition and see where you are.

Here's a picture of a six-pack at Söll, Austria:
