I don't envy the poor liftys that have to clean that chair off. Anybody ever get the feeling that the snowmakers just do that to screw with us lifties? By the way, that is the canyon quad chair.

Yeah, that happens with us at Sunapee all the time. The first couple of chairs needed to be cleaned off is fun, but after that it gets annoying and it becomes a pain in the $%@.
Chairlift n. A transportation system found at most ski areas in which a series of chairs suspended from a cable rapidly conveys anywhere from one to eight skiers from the front of one line to the back of another.

Usually we just run the lift (if the cable or sheaves aren't iced up too much) until the chair gets to either the top or bottom station and then hit it with a bunch of hammers to knock the snow and ice off of it. Many times the snow falls off easier than it looks when you get the chair vibrating from hitting it with a big hammer a bunch of times.

We usually have one in every lift shack, but 9 times out of 10 the mechs are there with their own dead-blows to get the snow off. We usually go out to help em just so that we can all get it done a little faster. Although our maintenance crew has changed quite a bit this year so I'm not sure if that will stay the same or not this year.
